I'm in Malaysia Book of Records, don play play^^

Tataz to carefree March and hello frantic April! Despite my theoretically-stuffed-agenda, I managed to slot in UUM Ponggal Fest on this morning =) [okay la, I sort of backed up last nite. But, I don't make empty promises!!]

My tender-age roomie+me in Punjabi-suit+stunning Veron

My fantasies about Ponggal Fest:
A long list of Hindu rituals dominated by fellow Indians coupled with several traditional performances.

The Reality-checks:
1) Hindu Rituals
There was.
Hazy Tapak Ekspo

But was cut to the minimal. The only ritual we did was cooking some mixture of sweet rice with raisins, i.e. Pongal, (kind of reminds me of Nando's) in a brand new ceramic pot using milk until they were boiled over. ON FIREWOOD not gas stove! And it's a way to praise the God (stand to be corrected). And for someone who yet to know how to cook, I truly enjoyed the ride to make fire & looking for ways to get the Pongal boiled over! The keywords were PATIENCE & HEAT!

Ponggal Ponggal!
2) Dominated by Fellow Indians
Indeed it is. But rest assured, Chinese was abundant. Some Malays were spotted too (And I'm sure they are not less religious). The 1Malaysia spirit was certainly there!

3) Traditional Performances
J'adore! But sadly I didn't see any during my presence there.

4) Hannah
We had our 1st hannahs as well! We were told that this is usually done on the bride during Indian Wedding Feast and it can last for 1 week!

They r super duper chun! Feel like showing off to the whole world.
(Damn, I looked fat...or I am fat?)

Ponggal Fest Aftermath: (i like the word "aftermath" alot!)
No remorse spending my entire morning under the sizzling hot sun. Greatest appreciation to Veron for bringing me along (though she's the one who BENEFITED the best...hehehe)and Shalini for helping me with the suit! And most important of all, my name is now on the Malaysia Book of Records!! (cooking the most Ponggal in Malaysia i guess) All the sweats r worthwhile and I think I'm now eligible to take part in the next season Survivor Show!

S̄wạs̄dīka, Wantan Noodles

Introducing Wanton Mee Hat Yai Version @ Lee Garden Hawker Centre @ 350 Baht
It was a magical combination. Delicious soft veggie noodles coupled with meaty deco. Unlike the Penang version, the wantan was not particular delicious but the meatball was awesome and the brown unknown food was incomparable. Scanty portion, which makes you crave for more!

4/5 star-rated

Dead Men Tell No Lies

There is a time to live and a time to die. If you own some savings in da bank or 1 Malaysia Trust Fund (because you are so damn lucky that the govt granted you 100 units upon uni entrance), have a few hundred bucks of EPF or SOCSO, possess a Myvi or a motorbike under your name, carry a Canon D500 or iPhone4, and hope that those stuffs go to some specific person e.g. your concubine or BF or even BFF upon your sudden leaving of real world - you ought to have a WILL (wasiat) to kuasa the same. At the same time, owning too many wills causes fuss to your loved ones e.g. died leaving 2 wills

Layman: I wished I did not die... sigh~

Fairy: It is very wrong for you to be greedy, you know .. for you have lived for the past 65 years..

Layman: I died leaving 2 wills ... 2 wills are totally different ... sigh~

Fairy: Ok, then the 2nd will is the valid one lor : ) ( as per Re Palmer's Goods)

Layman: The 2nd will was thumb-printed instead of signed wor... sigh~

Fairy: No worries .. Thumb-print is a valid signature : ) ( as per Thiang Kai Goh v. Yee Bee Eng)

Layman : The 2nd will was not made by lawyers ...sigh~

Fairy: Who cares, as long as it is in writing, signed by you, attested by 2 witnesses, when you are sane, and when you are over 18 years old : ) (S5(1) Wills Act 1959)

Layman: I hope I can rest in peace then ... sigh~

Fairy: You could, as long as there is no vitiating factors such as you were mentally-ill (as per Re Ng Toh Pew deceased)

Layman: Sigh~

In short, make sure you scribble something on a piece of paper or on your shoes or purse before you die, as that could be a will too, if you are too stingy to have a will written by a lawyer. : )

Once in a Lifetime

18.12.2010 - Red Box Karaoke 1st Avenue, the philanthropist of the week blasted Penangites with this promo whereby you can scream your heart out with just RM1 (complimentary 1 beverage + 1 meal/pax). Provided that you are one of the first 50 persons per session.

18.12.2010 - I did something Penangites don't always do and I vouched to be one of the 50 lucky persons during the 10am session.

Excited as we were, I, HZ, MC and SP went as early as 7.30am to queue for our lucks. Regardless of mom's refusal and friends' mocking, we went anyway, for the reason we live only once. Anyway, there were already 30+ people lining up =.= . So, Penangites aren't as laid-back or un-kiasu at all .. And since it was hours away from the session, we played Doraemon UNO.. until something happened and we no longer had any mood to continue with the game.

Above are the crazy 4 final semester students (the one holding the phone was included) in the queue. Despite the incident, we managed to go in. We paid only RM4.40 for the 2-hour session. And I shall conclude the session was fun and worth the long-wait + embarrassment. Special thanks to HZ's mommy & SP's vouchers. After all, we were all winners for the UNO games & the singing (or SCREAMING.. keke)

Shall I do it again in the near future? I will take serious consideration:-)

"Marrying Mozart"

Well, I ain't marrying him (if so, I would have become a heroin in his opera, which is utter romantic .. lolz) This is but the most recent masterpiece by Stephanie Cowell I read since 2 days' back. Overwhelming as it is, this is another romance genre I really fancy, twisting the career & relationships of young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (the prodigy classical musician in Vienna) and the 4 Weber sisters.

I must admit that musician isn't a character I am familiar with (coz Danielle Steele talked about lawyers, housewives, pilots and militants almost all the time). But I can't help noticing that musicians like Mozart & Igor Stravinsky (the Russian musician who involved with Coco Chanel) did bear some similarality e.g. they would "imprison" themselves for quite sometime & need women influence in order to compose good music =.=

Highly commendable and it is available in UUM library. Yes, DA LIBRARY -- the place I am gonna miss most when I leave ... the place I spent hours reading newspapers ... n the best library stored with the most comprehensive novels... n I earnestly hope that my future workplace owns a library just like this one

And my favorite sentence:
" In them he asked Aloysia many times why she couldn't love him as much as he loved her."

P/S: the German Border Guard case was part of the answer of my juris paper as I predicted in that post.

Mamma mia~

Listening to 'Voulez-vous' , one of the many fabulous tracks from 'Mamma Mia the Movie', I am totally impressed by the 1hour+ movie (merci to sis!). Those who haven't caught it shall either drive directly to the nearest cineplexes, or buy a ... DVD (ha ha) or download it from somewhere else.. because this is one hell of WORTH- watching movie .. simply loving it!

Some lame excuses which could easily be rebutted as followed:

Jerk:Oldies - they are so not my thingy ..
Me: O Pleaseeeeee, u would fall in love with ABBA... the oldies are nothing but terrific!

Jerk:Only my mom and dad adore Broadway movies
Me: What, am I aged your mom and dad? ofcause they would, and YOU would be as thrilled as they are, basically

Jerk:'House Bunny' perfectly suited me, I am so so into social and fashion thingy : )
Me: I bet you are! 'Mamma Mia' combines all the latest Bohemian accessories with naked make-ups to gladiator sandals (what Veron calls it) ... they are true-true fashionistas!

Jerk: Too many songs and storyline-deprived is a no-no!!!
Me: With all the great songs, rest assured that it has one of the sweetest script I have ever seen

Jerk: Its expensive!
Me: Go on movie day, borrow your cousin's student card, go before 11am, download it, steal it-there's always a way out...

Well, I really, utterly dont see any reason one refuses to watch it. It even has enchanting scenery of an I-dont-know-what-izzit-called island, hot dudes and exotic lasses, and some good french as bonuses. Once again, love it!
