Little Penang Street Market

Again, deepest gratitude to Mr Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook & Alliance Franchaise, I came to know about today's happening event on the Upper Penang Road - not just today, but the last Sundays of every month to be actual.

Spotted its advertisement on the Star, it has always been my dream to check this event out. Because I used to stuck in UUM every last Sundays. So, my happiest dream sort of comes true today.

Surely this was not the best picture I could take. It was 10.20am. Breezy and sunny day. You could get any accessories, clothes, souvenirs, handicrafts and most of all, FOODS @ the flea market. So, it's just another flea market in Penang.

MY GASTRONOMICAL ADVENTURE
with Little Penang Street Market 1

Acknowledging that Alliance Franchaise would be selling French pastries there, I have secretly vouched to go earlier to the market so that I could locate the freshest pastries there. Turned out, I was their earliest customer. >.<>

French strawberry tart. Tarte aux fraises.
Attractive as it looked, this tart was fantastic - with tasteless custard, crunchy & ultra-milky crust and fresh & sweet strawberries. The combination was God-made.
Super in love the crust. Definitely worth RM10.

Here comes eclair au chocolat. The French donuts according to Wikipedia.
The chocolate custard(with the slightest taste of chocolate) was stuffed inside the bread, topping it with a thin layer of sweet rich chocolate syrup.
OMG. Another marvelous sensation. I just felt like taking another piece. Yummy~~ Again, worth the money.
Place in fridge before consumption.

Also, I bought myself a piece of marble home-made cheese cake as tomorrow's breakfast. And feel like making it my supper tonite. ...

Mom & I actually went to the market with empty stomachs. This was our complimentary breakfast today. Wan tan mee in a coffee shop nearby. Needless to say, the quality of this noodles awed me. It was very good in fact.
I am shameful that I did not discover it earlier.

And to Phoey my old friend, there are times when I am not capable of helping. Please excuse me.

World's Coolest Intern

Neither born with silver nor gold spoon in my mouth, neither Miss Universe nor a stunning Nuffnanger with impeccable English I am, neither techno-savvy nor fashion savvy I am. But, I AM WHO I AM.

I am so gonna be the World's Coolest Intern, be it for Standard Chartered Bank or others.

As a future lawyer cum litigator, 4 years of struggles partly in a law school, and partly in the verge of adulthood, have taught me the art of questioning. Q n A in a court submission method as follows is about the World's Coolest Intern.

1st Issue: Whether there is a clear definition as to what constitutes the "World's Coolest Intern"?
No. There isn't. Can't be identified in Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary not LB Curzon Law Dictionary. Standard Chartered Bank is going to lay down a new precedence by picking the winner. The winner defines the term. Once and for all. =)

2nd Issue: What are my features to be the "World's Coolest Intern"?
Guess I would say. Passion is the only weapon I am armed with. I always long for better knowledge and experience: legal, people, product, money ....

I used to be very much in love with this part-time job. It had funded me to go for my UK Backpacking Trip( cum heart-breaking trip la).Until now I still use Hada Labo and I promote the advantages of the products despite the fact that I have stopped working. In fact, even if I don't get picked as the World's Coolest Intern, I would still help promoting Standard Chartered good deeds in contributing to the education of voice of tomorrow :-)

I love to volunteer. I volunteered for Tzu Chi, World Vision as well as other NGOs. You know, giving back to the society. Just like Standard Chartered, which supports AIDS/HIV programmes like no other organization. I can't donate as much as Bill Gates. With fair people skills, I can only donate with my youth and strength to the needy.

3rd Issue: What is the direct connection between Facebook, Twitter & Banking Business?
It spreads the good news, so are the bad news ... just as soon as I am informed of the cancellation of Criminal Procedure class via the Facebook "Share" application, so that I have time to participate in this meaningful contest =)

Why am I deserve to be the World's Coolest Intern? I am simply the coolest among the not-so-cools .. ; D

Simply Pure by Superdrug Stores

I used to have ultra sensitive skin. Consequential to my sensitive skin, it has now turned into dry skin. (by which all the redness has gone) Milk cleanser is most suitable for sensitive cum dry skin - that's what I learned during my Hada Labo era, which proves to be true after experimenting it for almost 3 months now. =)

Never in my life have I tried any milk cleanser before. Just gel cleanser like everyone else knows. Yet, I have managed to locate this gem during my Depressing Trip.....

Product Reviewed: Simply Pure
Type of Product: Calming Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
Price: approx. £ 1.79 for 200ml
(which is RM8.95..way cheaper than Johnson & Johnson >.<)
Where-to-get: Superdrug Store, Newcastle

Simply Pure - Simply Effective

Likable factors:
  • It is fragrance-free. A real one. I don't smell a scent in it, if any.And it is paraben-free also. Another real one.
  • As I only use it to clean both side of my face + nose, it works magically. My face is never as clean after every wash. I suspect also that this cleanser does away the sensitivity of my skin. This cleanser might not be suitable for people with oily skin.
  • Most importantly, it does not trigger pimples. Nor prevent it lo.What I meant is - there is no sudden pop-outs after applying it. In fact,  I could feel the gentleness of this cleanser even as my pimples did not erupt even I gently rubbed the cleanser on my face.
Anyway, no matter how crazy I am towards it, this Simply Pure is half full only. How I wish I have grabbed two bottles instead of one; or our Guardian or Watsons would have produced the same. Now that I would not be going back for another trip in the near future, I could only hunt for a new brand of affordable milky cleanser ... until my skin turns back to normal =)

Dessertherapy @ Crêpe Cottage

All of a sudden, I miss Penang, tremendously >.< Though she is just a stone's throw away from this lush green forest, I can't be home until at least 3 weeks from now ... how pathetic!! So, I decided to share a new option with all the dessert lovers (especially Lili Tan ..)

This cottage (is indeed a COTTAGE, we missed it thrice before the excruciating parking experience @ Coffee Island car park) is a home-inspired cafe situated on Gurney Drive. Expect to see no clothed-tables and cutlery, nor highly-trained waiters and romantic ambiance. Warm is the most appropriate word to describe this little place. Forget about the main courses (I haven't got the chance to try yet), the desserts were exquisite~~

Presenting my Mango Cup. I had never in my life consumed a crispy coconut crêpe, which is a sort of pancake. Whatsmore, home-made mango ice cream!!! With nuts as toppings, I was surprised by the luxury underneath the scoops of mango ice-cream. There were more fresh mangoes!!! And guess what? Mango + mango ice-cream = neutral. Ngam ngam! The mixture was just not too sweet.

Magical sensation I would say. Just like love at the first sight(WTF.. haha!)
Here's me looking a lil bit awkward with the orange background and my orange Mango Cup

Hui Lun's Sunburst. Attractive deco, beautiful name and tasted more or less like mine. And underneath the mango and ice cream and mango, there was a freshly-baked pancake.
Kudos to the mango ice-creams once more. Love it love it love it!

Our Certificate of Contribution - to the recession ^.^ They weren't too expensive. Taking into consideration the pic below.

The portions . Haha. Was just too big a portion for girls. The leftovers. Sharing is most recommended.
As sharing is loving (...........)

The mango ice cream reminds me of an era - mom's era. whereby a scoop of home-made ice cream sold by vendors cost like 20sen? and now that we can hardly find home-made ice-cream, that we have to drive all the way down Gurney Drive just to have a taste of it, that it costs more than RM3 per scoop, that there are even leftovers after all the hardships. May be this is the so-called lifestyle. I don't know....

My First Time

O rite o rite, it wasn't my VERY VERY first time. But I do consider it as a nouvelle beginning .. =)

Well, today I experimented a light/ naked make  (or over) for an interview session. For beauty is one of my priorities.=)  Some people considered it a big failure but I thought I was successful. Anyway, I strongly believe that this post is gonna contribute to the make-up industry of Malaysia or even world wide as this would serve as a simple guide for make up beginners (kononnya .... haha!)

For your info once again, I am of super sensitive skin, Estee Lauder products suit me to the max I know but they would have to wait for another year at least before I become their regular customer. I am broke, remember? Anyway, ZA make up products do good jobs on my skin in the meantime.

First step for make up, SKINCARE! Next, today all the products I had were ZA Concealer Perfection, ZA 2-way hyaluronic acid foundation with SPF, and a SilkyGirl Moisture Rich Lipstick(24 Pure).

Look at the heart broken pale pigmented acne face of mine before make up without edit. (haiz)

After applying the concealer on my acne n scars spot and little bit under my dark circles,  I applied the ZA two way foundation. And lastly, lipstick was applied. Get it, why I called this a naked make up?

Thereafter, I am gonna experiment with fiercer make ups next holiday. Lastly, I am not ashamed to tell that I don't wear any make-up right until I am 2* years old now. hahahaah

Solicitor's Liabilty

Reviewing "Solicitor's Liability [1996] 1 CLJ xlvii by Dr Hussain Abd Rahman Al Amudi", it can be concluded that lawyers in Malaysia enjoy no professional immunity. They can be sued for negligence under law of tort due to contractual obligation. So are solicitors and barristers in the United Kingdom.

A Flight with Air Asia X : KL - STN

30 June 2010 @ 12.30pm - I boarded AAX to London without any complication. It was my second time flying with Air Asia (there'll be more to come I predict). Excited as I was, the flight was actually fulled of foreigners (Hey man, the foreigners from first class countries were more than willing to choose AAX instead of Qatar Airways, Emirates and the list goes on, I was so very proud to be a Malaysian then n there!)

OVERALL
The flight was acceptable. I surely did get what I paid =). Not to the enjoyable extend though. I had never spent 13 + hours on an airplane as far as I can recall. There was no entertainment unless I am willing to pay more, which I didn't of cause - as a backpacker. Chatters with the British lady who lives in Australia and the Malaysian who has a daughter reading medicine Edinburgh, had definitely made my flight more interesting. And so was the Russian who is doing Law in Westminster University. We had great academic discussion on Donoghue v Stevenson!! Didn't suffer backache as I was young, strong and fulled of excitement! Neck ache though =).

VEGETARIAN & INTERNATIONAL MEALS

I pre-booked my meals due to kiasu-ism =) which I did not regret much afterwards. I have forgotten the price, but they were worthwhile as I remember.

KL-STN: I bought 2 bottles of mineral water to avoid dehydration to the detriment of my skin. 1 bottle was attached with my pre-booked XX Pasta. I have forgotten what pasta was it. The pasta was okay but the side dish sucked. I bought Marigold Orange Juice with RM6, Famous Amos Cookies RM5, Potato Crisps RM4 later to sate my hunger because skipping the side dishes. Couldn't believe I actually spent that much on food then. The British lady took ONLY pasta throughout the 13 hours!

STN-KL: The flight was shorter than the one to London.
I was served with a pre-booked Roasted Chicken. It was actually delicious. It was during the second half of the flight that I realized we would be served two meals on flights to London or vice versa for pre-booked meals. I got my Chicken Cottage Pie but I gave it to a Malay lady because I was so pissed off that I missed a meal on my first flight to London Stansted =.=

The Stewards & Stewardess
The female crews were well-groomed, polite but not too attentive. So, were the male crews. Compared to the local flights, steward & stewardess were actually more attentive. All in all, it is sufficient as all of them are good looking : )

The Berlin Wall

It is now 12.10a.m. and I couldn't sleep yet. So, I guess updating my blog could be a wiser move instead of laying on my bed staring into the ceiling.

This picture was taken in the"Ripley's Believe or Not?"warehouse in the heavenly London during my Depressing Trip.

Once, this was a part of the ubiquitous Berlin Wall of German. Since Dr. Ahmad Masum's mentioning about the East German Bodyguard case of the other day, whereby the people who crossed Berlin Wall was authorized to be killed by the Nazi Regime, this picture had never quit popping out from my mind.

It might be a positive sign that I should read more about this wall. Or better still, it could be related to my final examination on Jurisprudence subject. =) Naive me . . .

A Review on My Hubby Nixoderm

People, I haven't found a new man yet. This is just my favourite primples cream of 7-months . The Nixoderm. :-@

Got to know it from a blog and due its price factor(plus its effectiveness I got to know from forums), I immediately bought it from Guardian Pacific Komtar during my homecoming and have since, fallen madly in love with it. The Nixoderm sounds expensive .. but it isn't .. it costs only RM4.90. =,=

For your information, I have a sensitive face. :-( and that's not the entire story. My forehead and T-zone are of oily and pimples-prone nature. and the sensitive zone is also pimples prone .. at times (oh how i loathe them!!!)
Despite the burning sensation my my pimples when I apply the cream on my face(to which I really enjoy^^), The Nixoderm actually does miracles on my pimples. My pimples usually fades within 2-3 days by applying the cream on the same spots for the periods. Most important of all, the cream does no damage to the ever sensitive areas of my face with thin skin.

The 2 downsides: the indescribable odour and washing it in the morning requires a great effort. but no worries, my Clinelle Deep Cleansing gel is still doing a good job. : )

All in all, a very pratical product recommended by me n my roomie : ) i think because of the sulphate ingredients in it, it is functioning well in killing germs on my pimples instead of triggering them and hence, no effect on my sensitive zone.

As a bonus, it can clear blackhead. to which I have never tried .. haha

SUNPLAY SPF 65

Got this tiny sunblock from UUM Kachi Mall when I went to the Lost World, Tambun last year. 3 weeks ago, again, I accidentally bumped into it in a convenient shop after clubbing in Langkawi. I know I am dark .. but dark person deserves to be protected from scary UVA and UVB too!! =.=

Do ignore the Evidence 1950 Act behind ( hehe... )

This tiny bottle sunblock of 6g of RM5.90(or RM4.90 ??unsure) worth all the price I paid : ) Kecil kecil cili padi!!

I managed to apply 4-5 layers evenly on my face, my back, both hands and legs in Tambun. The Langkawi one was lesser .. may be it had been placed in the shop for quite some time then =.=

The outcome: I din't become darker(as in overall) after the Tambun trip, maintain to be actual .. probably due to SPF 65 lo ... and no comment for the Langkawi one as I only applied during island-hopping on the third day = ) and of coz I din't get cancer .. LOL
The scent: Lovely !! thickly scented ... but never over-scented ..
The sensation: Cooling as it contains alcohol (anything doesn't??) and neither sticky nor oily at all
My SENSITIVE face: no new pop-outs ad far as I can remember ... hence, it is suitable for ultra-sensitive skin
Re-purchase: I will if I need it again ..n ofcoz I will need it again during my Bali Backpacking soon =)
